First Rotation Reflection

I can honestly say that I have learned a lot in the first rotation of Quest 2. I was with Mrs. Kutiev and she teaches Kindergarten. Observing Mrs. Kutiev I noticed how enthusiastic she was every time I was in her room. She gave her students positive feedback and compliments on their work. When I taught my lessons she sat to the side and became “invisible” as she observed me. My first lesson I was so nervous, but she told me I did great and the things I should be working on is classroom management and to make sure that the kids who need modifications should be seated next to me. After the first lesson I remember what she told me and I made sure the kids who needed modification sat right next to me and made sure I would call on them when I needed student assistance. Another comment she suggested was that when I read a regular book to the students that I shouldn’t show them the pictures until I finished reading the page. She said this will keep the students interested and in the end they will develop a love for literature. I have faced a few challenges when teaching my lessons. There is this one particular girl who I just can’t get her to focus and do her work. I find myself lost at times and wonder what I should do because I’ve tried what the teacher does and it just doesn’t work for me. Overall, I feel I still need a lot of help in classroom management and how to redirect the students back to what they are suppose to do like the ones who are not focusing on my lesson when I am teaching it or the ones who do an unsatisfactory job on my activities. My personal learning goals for the remainder of the semester are to really focus on classroom management and to remember to mention what I’m about to teach to the students.
