First Lesson Plan Reflection

In the kindergarten classroom I taught the lesson on reading comprehension. I can honestly say that I have better lesson days. This lesson was my last lesson and I didn’t think it went well. I had issues with two particular kids who didn’t want to participate and were not staying on task. I did a similar lesson that the teacher has done already so this helped me a lot when I introduced it again. The students were already familiar with the lesson. Also, I think I let my nerves get to me because I would make silly mistakes when teaching the lesson. My teacher even said that my previous lessons went better than this one and I had to agree with her. Looking back I really don’t know what went wrong. I tried everything that the teacher does and it just didn’t work for me and I was hesitant to try anything else to control the situation. The lesson itself went well. The students worked on the lesson well and even though some of the students weren’t able to finish they still had the opportunity to share with the class and retell the story with a partner. The students were able to give me correct responses when I asked questions such as, “who were the characters of the story?” What I would do differently next time I do a lesson would probably be to have better classroom management, making sure everyone stays on task, and making sure I manage my time properly.
